← back first day | sabbatical Mar 31, 2026I've never taken a sabbatical in my four decades on this planet. I tried, but I always ended up going back to work. So today is my first day, and I'm already blogging and looking forward to working on my games and tools. That doesn't count because they're hobbies... I said out loud, hoping someone would believe me.
First, I need to revisit all my pending tools. I got distracted by the layoff. I certainly need money; otherwise, I will run out of it, and no more sabbatical.
Second, I need to make a plan. I have around two months of sabbatical before I have to work again.
Tools — decentralized, local-first technology for everyone — and games. I have four of them in the pipeline. Some are quite large, and I certainly won't finish them, especially because of my artistic limitations when it comes to digital art.
Oh well. And I have books to finish! A few of them, but certainly doable.
And games to play...
I'm starting to believe I don't know how to sabbaticalize my life. No surprise, though.
